The Greenhouse Market project reconfigures the Kerrytown site into an urban agricultural hub where production, distribution, and recycling are fully integrated. By extending the existing market’s circulation and symbolic axis, the building anchors itself within the urban context while introducing vertical farming, greenhouse structures, and community public spaces. The project also continues the skyline of the existing market and strategically organizes programs in response to Ann Arbor’s vibrant street atmosphere to attract users. Agricultural processes are embedded into the massing, allowing sunlight, seasonal change, and ecological flows to shape spatial organization. The project positions architecture as an active mediator within the city’s food network, creating spaces for research, discussion, and real-time intervention to support the circulation and commercial development of Ann Arbor’s agricultural products.
