The Frame and Dome is a modifiable facade system that features a diagrid truss frame and detachable dome-shaped apertures. Its overall design was inspired by the Voronoi tessellation. The facade’s design explored questions about scale, modularity, and functionality. The design concluded with a puzzle-like assembly in which typical facade fasteners will be utilized. The facade’s geometry was created through a series of Grasshopper-native components and Super Matter Tools components, such as VoroMultiLayer and PathBuilder. The prototypes are made out of carbon fiber and PETG pellets, which were 3D printed using a KUKA extruder.
