Through the deconstruction and reuse of the red brick shell that once housed the Illinois Tech Motorsports, Motor Center became a forward looking community center proposal, while paying homage to its origins. The main body of the center has a gridded structure of CLT, the exterior walls consist of modules of reinforced brick panels from the former building and windows that open into an inner courtyard or outer brick facade. The main circulation is outsourced to a concrete and glass, stair and elevator core, with a secondary stair well at the end of the narrow wing. The program is layered to intertwine the public facilities and the motor sports facilities.
